The AECL Nuclear Laboratories provides Canada with a national capability in nuclear and radiation science and technology, and as a result is involved in partnerships with universities and industries wherever the capability for research with nuclear and radioactive material is required.
The Nuclear Laboratories is home to a suite of national science facilities that support the diverse innovation needs within Canada’s community of nuclear and radiation science and technology. That S&T community is relatively well-developed and includes industries, universities, research hospitals, and government laboratories as well as AECL. Members of that community pursue a spectrum of scientific goals from clean energy to cancer research to nuclear security. The Nuclear Innovation Networks Program connects the capabilities at the Nuclear Laboratories with partners in Canadian industries, universities, and other institutions, and enables them to utilize those capabilities to pursue their innovation agendas.
The program ensures the accessibility of those national capabilities for the external user community.
