EACL a demand\u00e9 aux LNC de formuler des propositions pour le d\u00e9classement du r\u00e9acteur afin de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la responsabilit\u00e9 d\u2019EACL de prot\u00e9ger l\u2019environnement et de s\u2019acquitter de ses responsabilit\u00e9s dans le domaine du nucl\u00e9aire. Situ\u00e9 sur la rive sud de la rivi\u00e8re des Outaouais pr\u00e8s de la ville de Rolphton (Ontario), il a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 fonctionner en 1962 et a servi d\u2019installation de formation importante pour les futurs ing\u00e9nieurs et op\u00e9rateurs de r\u00e9acteurs. Cela signifierait de laisser les composantes r\u00e9siduelles du r\u00e9acteur et les syst\u00e8mes profond\u00e9ment \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur de la structure souterraine de fondation en b\u00e9ton, qui serait remplie par un coulis, entour\u00e9e par le substrat rocheux. La structure immobilis\u00e9e dans le coulis serait ensuite surmont\u00e9e d\u2019un chapeau de b\u00e9ton et couverte par une barri\u00e8re technique et surveill\u00e9e pendant au moins 100\u00a0ans. Les structures au-dessus du sol, sauf la chemin\u00e9e, qui est conserv\u00e9e pour prot\u00e9ger l\u2019habitat des martinets ramoneurs, seraient d\u00e9molies. L\u2019objectif est d\u2019immobiliser le r\u00e9acteur dans un \u00e9tat stable et s\u00fbr afin de faciliter la poursuite de la d\u00e9croissance radioactive.<\/p>\n<h2>La technologie de d\u00e9classement in-situ<\/h2>\n<p>Le d\u00e9classement in-situ a \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 sans probl\u00e8mes dans divers sites nucl\u00e9aires de par le monde depuis les ann\u00e9es 60. C\u2019est une technique qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9e afin de restaurer efficacement les sites contamin\u00e9s par des d\u00e9chets dangereux et radioactifs<\/p>\n<p>Cette technique r\u00e9duit au minimum l\u2019exposition des travailleurs aux rayonnements, r\u00e9duit la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de manutention et de transport et, globalement, r\u00e9duit les risques pour les travailleurs et l\u2019environnement.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 mesure que les LNC progressent dans ce projet, ils r\u00e9pondront aux exigences r\u00e9glementaires prot\u00e9geant la sant\u00e9 et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des travailleurs, le public et l\u2019environnement, voire les d\u00e9passera.<\/p>\n<p>La \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnsc-ccsn.gc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Commission canadienne de s\u00fbret\u00e9 nucl\u00e9aire<\/a> (CCSN) n\u2019autorisera les projets que si elle peut acqu\u00e9rir la certitude qu\u2019ils sont s\u00fbrs.<\/p>\n<p>La CCSN r\u00e9glemente et surveille les installations nucl\u00e9aires du Canada pour veiller \u00e0 ce qu\u2019elles soient exploit\u00e9es de fa\u00e7on s\u00e9curitaire.
