Avant son arr\u00eat en 1984, le r\u00e9acteur a aliment\u00e9 le r\u00e9seau en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et a servi de source de vapeur pour une centrale d\u2019extraction d\u2019eau lourde.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Le r\u00e9acteur de Douglas Point est actuellement en \u00ab \u00e9tat d\u2019arr\u00eat s\u00fbr \u00bb. Cela signifie que le r\u00e9acteur ne fonctionne pas, que le combustible a \u00e9t\u00e9 retir\u00e9 et que l\u2019installation demeure en place pour laisser la radioactivit\u00e9 d\u00e9cro\u00eetre. Les activit\u00e9s d\u2019entretien se poursuivent afin de veiller \u00e0 ce que les immeubles et les installations de soutien soient maintenus en bon \u00e9tat de fonctionnement.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Le r\u00e9acteur de Douglas Point est exploit\u00e9 par les\u202f<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnl.ca\/?lang=fr\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">LNC<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fau nom d\u2019EACL. Les activit\u00e9s actuelles entreprises par les LNC sont ax\u00e9es sur le d\u00e9classement, s\u2019il y a lieu, des installations non nucl\u00e9aires.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00c0 la suite d&rsquo;un examen et d&rsquo;une \u00e9valuation approfondis par la Commission canadienne de s\u00fbret\u00e9 nucl\u00e9aire, l&rsquo;organisme de r\u00e9glementation nucl\u00e9aire ind\u00e9pendant du Canada, CNL proc\u00e8de maintenant \u00e0 certaines activit\u00e9s de d\u00e9classement, notamment l&rsquo;enl\u00e8vement des b\u00e2timents et des structures non nucl\u00e9aires et l&rsquo;enl\u00e8vement de certains d\u00e9chets. Cela dit, de nombreux autres plans de d\u00e9classement d\u00e9taill\u00e9s et examens environnementaux seront n\u00e9cessaires pour d\u00e9classer compl\u00e8tement le r\u00e9acteur. Ces exigences suppl\u00e9mentaires impliqueront l&rsquo;engagement et la participation du public et des autochtones dans le processus de d\u00e9cision r\u00e9glementaire.
