Le r\u00e9acteur a fonctionn\u00e9 de 1972 \u00e0 1978. Par la suite, le combustible du r\u00e9acteur a \u00e9t\u00e9 retir\u00e9 en 1984.<\/p>\n<p>Le r\u00e9acteur Gentilly 1 est actuellement en \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9tat d\u2019arr\u00eat s\u00fbr\u00a0\u00bb. Cela signifie que le r\u00e9acteur ne fonctionne pas, que le combustible a \u00e9t\u00e9 retir\u00e9 et que l\u2019installation demeure sur place pour favoriser la d\u00e9croissance de la radioactivit\u00e9. Les activit\u00e9s d\u2019entretien se poursuivent pour veiller \u00e0 ce que les immeubles et les installations de soutien soient maintenus en bon \u00e9tat de fonctionnement.<\/p>\n<p>Gentilly 1 est exploit\u00e9 par les <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnl.ca\/?lang=fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LNC<\/a> au nom d\u2019EACL. Les activit\u00e9s actuelles entreprises par les LNC sont ax\u00e9es sur le d\u00e9classement, s\u2019il y a lieu, des installations non nucl\u00e9aires. L\u2019actuelle strat\u00e9gie de d\u00e9classement de haut niveau de cette installation ne pr\u00e9voit pas de d\u00e9classement in\u2011situ parce que la cuve du r\u00e9acteur est situ\u00e9e hors sol. Les plans complets de d\u00e9classement du r\u00e9acteur n\u2019ont pas encore \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9par\u00e9s en d\u00e9tail.
